I HAD A CHANCE TO SIT DOWN AND INTERVIEW ONE OF STRONG ISLAND NY HIPHOP ARTIST “EMCE RELIC”. WE TALKED ABOUT WHERE THE NAME “LYRICAL BEAST” CAME FROM AND MORE. CHECK OUT THE INTERVIEW BELOW.
CAROLINAGIRL: Tell a little about Emce Relic the “LYRICAL BEAST”
RELIC: The crowd mover, a reality based MC with real skillz. A product of the 90’s so you get real lyricism from Emce Relic. A well rounded MC who represents strong island N.Y.. Founded Mad Men in 1993. Co Owner of Mad Men Ent. a member of Major Change Music. A true and dedicated artist above all. Emce has been making some noise out chyeah for the last 3 years he has been doing more than most. I grew up playing the drums so I love all types of beats. I went from life on these streets to giving life to these beats. Well I go hard with everything I do. I am a dad, I have a son who is my world. I am currently #8 on the reverbnation.com hip hop charts for my area, I have held that spot for close to 9 months now. Lyrical Beast – I am that dude they come to for the bars they know are gonna be real, hard and unpredictable. I love words always have, so I enjoy being very lyrical, the beast came from how hard I go on tracks and on the web as well as in the streets. I know people have their reps but mines is real, what i’m known for is what I put in my music. I come from the bottom. There is a major change coming with me, as I now live through my music. I have plans on building a world wide brand and giving back to those who can not give to them selves and to show the masses that a man can make a difference and control his destiny. I am looking into a few tours as well. Were I come from its the crab in the bucket mentality, but all the artist I have worked with shouts to them all, but they all know im an exception, meaning i’m a rare breed. I am not perfect by no means but I keeps it 100.
CAROLINAGIRL: Where did the name lyrical beast come from?
RELIC: The name Lyrical Beast came from my interactions with my fans. Rather it be twitter or facebook soundcloud or any of the many radio shows i tune in to support. I would ask how did they view me and the answer that kept being put out there was a lyrical beast, so if the fans say that’s how they view me i’m cool with that one, I actually embody that and embraced it. So thanks to all my loyal fans who inspire me to go hard.
CAROLINAGIRL: What makes you different from the average hip hop artist?
RELIC: I promote my self, I invest in my self. I have my own image and style. I am genuine and dedicated to my craft and career. I finance my self to go on the road and be seen and really network and create opportunities for myself. Above all I live the music and my life is a soundtrack for many I have come to realize. My words are pictures, I paint my experiences. I am very versatile as well, I do collaborations in other genres of music. I am driven to success. I have had my vision for a long time and now i’m watching my plans unfold. I will say this HIP HOPS ENHANCED NOW THAT THEY ADDED MY INGREDIENT. thats a direct quote from one of my new tracks called L.O.L. off my Lyrical Beast Mixtape hosted by DJ Wispas and DJ Yello produced by True Fame out of Houston Texas.
CAROLINAGIRL: How long u been rapping and what inspires u?
RELIC: I have been rhyming since 1989. A little before then maybe, I got to meet Rakim and Eric B as a child and it changed me and inspired me. A few other artist did as well but meeting Rakim did it for me. That’s were Relic comes from the 18th letter we both have as well as he has the A and I vowels were I have the E and I in our names. But I was also inspired by Wu Tang clan, Big L, Big Pun, BIG, 2 Pac, KRS1 to name a few who helped make me the artist I am today.
CAROLINAGIRL: Do u remember your first 8 bars ever written? If so, let me hear it
RELIC: LOL ok well it was something like elma fud elma fud elma fud was a great big dud LOL I remember loving the nice and smooth track hip hop junkies so that was my remix as a child to that track. LOL the rest I remember but wont repeat LOL great question.
CAROLINAGIRL: Who are some of your favorite MC’s that u have looked up to?
